POLTEKPAR MAKASSAR HOLDS A WORKSHOP ON WRITING COMMUNITY SERVICE (PKM) PROPOSALS

Makassar, 13th June 2025 — Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar (Poltekpar Makassar) through its Centre of Research and Community Service (P3M) held a Workshop on Writing Community Service (PKM) Proposals on Friday, 13th June 2025, at the Amanna Gappa Building, 2nd Floor. This activity aimed to accelerated the collective and collaborative completion of PKM proposals by its lecturers.

The workshop was officially commenced by Dr. Herry Rachmat Widjaja, M.M.Par., CHE, the Director of Poltekpar Makassar. In his opening remarks, he emphasised the importance of strengthening the implementation of Community Service as part of the core commitments to the Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi — three core principles of higher education in Indonesia: education, research, and community service). He also noted that the student admission system is now based on merit, without the use of any recommendation. The admission process includes the Independent Admission Selection (SMM), comprising two main tracks and eight special categories, alongside the enhanced implementation of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Programme.

As a tangible manifestation of Community Service, the institution is currently undertaking the second phase of its Village Tourism Programme. This includes visits and coaching activities in Paseang Tourism Village, Pinrang Regency. These activities are expected to broaden students’ perspectives and serve as a contextual learning platform. In addition, Poltekpar Makassar is currently providing assistance across 24 areas and has designated additional regions for Community Service activities, such as Lakkang Sub-district, Maros-Pangkep Geopark, and Mamasa — each with already approved allocated funding.

The event continued with a presentation delivered by Prof. Ilham, S.Pd., M.Hum., Ph.D, who explained about the technical aspects of writing PKM proposals, especially those tailored for scientific journal formats. He further elaborated that this year’s budgeting system is collective, allocated per group rather than individually, taking into account the zoning system for community service locations. To support more effective proposal writing, Prof. Ilham also conducted a mapping and grouping of lecturers to encourage collaborative writing efforts, allowing for a more efficient and synergistic process.

Through this workshop, it is expected that the lecturers will promptly produce high-quality PKM proposals that yield tangible benefits for society, while also reinforcing the contribution of the institution to regional development through sustainable tourism and community engagement. JAE*
