Makassar Tourism Polytechnic Attains Institutional Accreditation with ‘Excellent’ Predicate From BAN-PT

Makassar, 10th June 2025 – Makassar Tourism Polytechnic held a celebratory gathering to commemorate its attainment of an “Excellent” predicate in its institutional accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). The event took place at the Bugis Restaurant at Makassar Tourism Polytechnic campus and was attended by the entire academic community, including lecturers, administrative staff, and invited guests.
This event was organised as an expression of gratitude and a moment of reflection on Poltekpar Makassar’s longstanding journey in maintaining and enhancing the quality of vocational education in the field of tourism. In his remarks, the Director of Makassar Tourism Polytechnic , Dr. Harry Rachmat Widjaja, provided a retrospective overview of the institution’s development since its inception, in the lead-up to the 34th anniversary of Poltekpar Makassar on 18 September.
He emphasised that achieving the ‘Excellent’ accreditation status was no easy feat. It required hard work, synergy, and consistency from all components of the campus community to meet the quality standards set forth. “This is an extraordinary achievement, and it also represents a significant responsibility to maintain,” stated the Director.Furthermore, he noted that all academic programmes at Makassar Tourism Polytechnic had previously obtained the ‘Excellent’ accreditation status. This reflects the institution’s strong commitment to delivering high-quality vocational education.In his address, the Director also highlighted several strategic priorities that must remain a focus, including points raised by the BAN-PT field assessors. One of these was the encouragement of students to actively participate in international competitions, thereby enhancing the institution’s global visibility and competitiveness.
As an ‘Excellent’ institution, Makassar Tourism Polytechnic is also expected to offer internationally oriented education, attracting students from various countries.Mr Widjaja also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to previous institutional leaders who laid the foundation for Makassar Tourism Polytechnic’s growth. “What we have achieved today is the result of a long relay of dedication, in which the contributions of former leaders have played an indispensable role,” he remarked.As a symbol of gratitude and respect, the event concluded with a ceremonial cutting of the traditional tumpeng (a yellow cone-shaped rice dish), jointly carried out by Dr. Harry Rachmat Widjaja and a former Director of Makassar Tourism Polytechnic, in an atmosphere of collegiality and togetherness among the academic community.
The institutional accreditation field assessment by BAN-PT assessors took place on 23rd May 2025. The assessors present were Professor Diena Mutiara Lemy, Professor Aceng Gama, and Fetty Asmaniaty.This achievement of the “Excellent” accreditation serves as a significant milestone, reinforcing Makassar Tourism Polytechnic’s commitment to producing graduates who are outstanding, adaptable, and well-prepared to compete in both the national and international tourism industries
