Makassar – Politeknik Pariwisata Makassar officially opened the 2026 English Matriculation Program on Friday (25/9/2026). Carrying the tagline “Speak Confidence, Communicate with the World,” the program aims to improve students’ English skills and build their confidence in communicating.
The opening ceremony was held at the Poltekpar Makassar Rectorate Field and attended by 276 first-semester students of Diploma 3 programs. The program will run for three weeks, from September 25 to October 10, 2026, with learning sessions held every Friday and Saturday.
Director of Poltekpar Makassar, Herry Rachmat Widjaja, emphasized that the English program is an opportunity for students to improve their ability to communicate in English.
He encouraged students not to be afraid of speaking English, even when they make mistakes or forget vocabulary.
“Do not be afraid to speak English. You may make mistakes or forget some vocabulary, but this is your time to learn. That is why we have the tagline ‘Speak Confidence, Communicate with the World,’” he said.
Head of the Language Unit of Poltekpar Makassar, Ratna, M.Pd., explained that the annual program, organized by the English Department, is designed to provide students with opportunities to practice their English communication skills in both academic and interactive settings.
The learning sessions will take place on the second and third floors of the Amannagappa Building, involving senior lecturers from other universities and Poltekpar Makassar students who will assist throughout the program.
At the end of the matriculation program, students will participate in an outdoor activity at Pantai Biru as part of the learning experience. The activity will then continue with an English Camp program for all first-semester students, including students from Diploma 4 programs, providing a broader opportunity to practice English communication in an interactive environment.
Through the 2026 English Matriculation Program and the subsequent English Camp, Poltekpar Makassar encourages students to continuously practice, build confidence, and view mistakes as part of the learning process.
