Unit Inkubator Bisnis Gelar Workshop Sensory Skill for Hospitality Industry

 

Politeknik Pariwisata (Poltekpar) Makassar melalui Unit Inkubator Bisnis kembali menggelar program Bestpreneur Batch 7 pada Sabtu, 14 Juni 2025 di Bugis Resto, Kampus Poltekpar Makassar. Kegiatan ini diikti sebanyak 33 peserta, yang merupakan mahasiswa dari Program Studi Tata Hidang, Seni Kuliner, dan Pengelolaan Perhotelan.

Kegiatan yang mengusung tema “Sensory Skill for Hospitality Industry” ini bertujuan untuk membekali mahasiswa dalam mempelajari karakter rasa kopi guna mendukung profesi mereka di masa depan, baik sebagai barista, pengelola, maupun pemilik coffee shop. Melalui kegiatan ini, peserta diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dalam mengenali cita rasa dan kualitas produk sebagai bagian dari pelayanan prima di bidang hospitality.

Kegiatan diawali dengan laporan oleh Kepala Unit Inkubator Bisnis Poltekpar Makassar, Nursalam, S.Sos., MM, dan dibuka secara resmi oleh Direktur Poltekpar Makassar, Dr. Herry Rachmat Widjaja, M.M.Par., CHE. Dalam sambutannya Direktur mengatakan bahwa Industry ini sedang menjadi trend, sehingga penting untuk memiliki sensory skill. Jadi dengan sensory skill yang dimiliki dapat memaksimalkan potensi dari diri mahasiswa sehingga nantinya ketika selesai mereka mampu bersaing di industri.

Workshop menghadirkan narasumber spesial, Rahmat Fatrianto atau yang akrab disapa Trian, seorang Q Grader bersertifikasi internasional dari Coffee Quality Institute (CQI), founder Kopiteori, sekaligus Indonesian Cup Taster Champion 2019. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup sejarah kopi, ide bisnis kopi, segmentasi pasar di berbagai daerah, pentingnya sensory skill dalam industri hospitality, serta praktik melatih kepekaan indera perasa dan pengujian aroma kopi untuk mengembangkan keterampilan sensori.

 


 

THE BUSINESS INCUBATOR UNIT HOLDS A WORKSHOP OF SENSORY SKILL FOR HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

 

Politeknik Pariwisata (Poltekpar) Makassar through the Business Incubator Unit held another “Bestpreneur Batch 7” program on Saturday, 14th June 2025 at Bugis Restaurant, Poltekpar Makassar. This activity was attended by 33 participants, who are the students of Food & Beverage Services, Culinary Arts, and Hotel Management programmes.

This workshop, themed “Sensory Skill for Hospitality Industry” aimed to equip students with the knowledge of the characteristics of coffee’s flavour to support their future professions, whether as a barista, manager, as well as a coffee shop owner. Throughout this event, the participants were expected to enhance their ability in recognising the taste and quality of the products as part of delivering excellent service in the hospitality sector.

The activity commenced with a report of Nursalam, S.Sos., MM, the head Business Incubator Unit of Poltekpar Makassar, and was officially opened by Dr. Herry Rachmat Widjaja, M.M.Par., CHE, the Director of Poltekpar Makassar. In his remarks, the Director emphasised that this industry is currently a growing trend, making it essential to develop good sensory skills. He explained that with such skills, student’s potential can be optimalised, enabling them to compete effectively within the industry upon graduation.

The workshop featured a special guest, Rahmat Fatrianto, also known as Trian, an Internationally certified Q grader from the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI), founder of Kopiteori, and the 2019 Indonesian Cup Tester Champion. The topics covered the history of coffee, coffee business ideas, market segmentation in various regions, the importance of sensory skills in the hospitality industry, as well as practical training in developing taste sensitivity and aroma testing to advance sensory skills.
